Reports to: Head Coach or Athletic Director
Job Summary:
The Rowing Coach will be responsible for overseeing and coaching rowing activities within the sports and athletics department. They will work closely with athletes to develop their technical rowing skills, physical conditioning, and competitive strategies. The Rowing Coach will also provide guidance and support to athletes, ensuring their overall growth and development both on and off the water.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive rowing training programs, strategies, and schedules to maximize athletes' performance.
2. Instruct athletes on proper rowing techniques, including stroke mechanics, boat control, and racing strategies.
3. Provide individualized coaching to athletes, offering constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
4. Monitor athletes' progress and performance, conducting regular assessments to identify areas for development and implement appropriate training adjustments.
5. Collaborate with the Head Coach or Athletic Director to establish team goals, objectives, and performance expectations.
6. Plan and organize team practices, workouts, and competitions, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and regulations.
7. Assist in the recruitment and selection of potential rowing athletes, evaluating their skills, fitness levels, and commitment to the sport.
8. Foster a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
9. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to athlete participation, performance, and achievements.
10. Stay updated with current trends, techniques, and advancements in rowing coaching methodologies.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Rowing Coach or extensive experience as a competitive rower.
3. Strong knowledge of rowing techniques, strategies, and training principles.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with athletes, coaching staff, and other stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential.
6. Solid organizational skills to effectively plan and manage training sessions, competitions, and other team activities.
7. CPR and First Aid certifications (preferred).
8. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate training and competition schedules.
